ABOUT US

HISTORY
PICT0967.JPG

YEEHAAA (YH) began in 2004 working with youth at Decker Lake located in the Wasatch Valley in Utah. YH has always focused on improving youth self-worth while protecting diversity, love, respect, value, and dignity for all involved in the program. Then in 2015, YH began moving towards working with high school students who struggle with social interactions. In 2017, Utah's teen suicide showed an increase of 141%.

YH saw the opportunity to also help this population. With bullying being one variable that leads to suicide, YH has focused on reducing teen bullycide (bullying + suicide) along the Wasatch Front and throughout Utah. YH believes in building a safer environment in schools and communities while protecting the diversity, love, respect, value, and dignity of all involved to help stop bullying and ultimately decrease teen suicide.

YEEHAAA Expanded Learning:

Under ARCH services, our annual certifications are under the Organizational Development program in Mental Health, Counseling, Education, and Horse Behavior. YEEHAAA’s design and curriculum fit under the Utah State Board of Education guidelines (public/charter/private) supporting social and emotional learning (SEL), and emotional learning and awareness (ELA). Below are a couple of examples our curriculum covers for a safer school environment.

Keystone principles for ARCH demonstrate positive team-building skills, psychological safety, storytelling, and the power of learning through an experiential environment with horses and other animals. Concepts below bring a student's insight, personal strength, SEL/ELA well-being, and a learning perspective for a safer school environment that can reduce bullycide.

  • “Sense of Self” internalized your impact on the environment

  • “Externalised Story” brings the student into the language/role(s) that are characterized in storytelling.

  • “Empowering Mindset” for students' curiosity, innovative creativity and develops personal strengths.

  • “Natural Flow” for one’s self, others, and the environment of the student(s) story.

Under Equine-Assisted Services YEEHAAA brings, 1) Equine-assisted learning in education working with teachers, students, and the community,  2) Equine-assisted learning under the organizational development for horse behavior, coaching, and mental health, and 3) Equine-assisted learning in personal development for students to enhance self-awareness, personal strengths, intertwined with core/secondary education courses (S.T.E.M./S.T.E.A.M.) through the work of horses as facilitators.
